This is a Marie Rogers VERY RARE MINI FACE pitcher form. Marie was from Meadesville, GA. She was a pioneer, as a woman folk potter, among the heavily male potter dominated southern pottery tradition. She was a very special woman to know, and very humble. She fell into pottery in many senses because her husband passed away ~ 40 years ago, and took up the tradition of the Rogers family of potters. She passed on about 2010.The face pitcher form for Marie is extremely uncommon. The mini version I have seen maybe 4-5 times. Great how she used the two glazes to bring out the features. This little gem stands by 2.5\" by 2\". This is mid 80\'s or earlier with the absolute attention to detail in the face and turning of the pitcher.
