For sale is a figurine of a putto fishing made by Meissen in the 20th century. Meant to represent the element water it is the perfect figurine for the fisherman in all of us. The putti is holding a fish in either hand, has some sort of fish creel with a crab in it in as well as a fish trap made of sticks with two fish in the opening in front of him. Couple of reeds or grasses in the back to either side of him and a nice base decorated with gilded raised scrolls. The putto is nude except for a blue cloth draped over him. A really well modeled and painted figure with lots of details. The piece is in perfect condition which is really nice as most one sees are damaged due to all the fragile details on this figurine. The figurine is 4.375 inches tall, 5 inches wide and 3 inches deep. It is marked with the crossed swords mark underneath the base as well as the usual impressed / incised numbers and letters of the period and GERMANY in blue.
