This piece is from the Shirley and Bennett J. Vonderheide collection currently on exhibit at the African Art Museum of Maryland. This an authenticated tribal dance mask appraised by Dr. Kwaku Ofori Ansa, originally from Ghana. Dr. Ofori Ansa was an art professor at Howard University for 35 years and world-renowned expert in African art. Beautiful piece.Worn at time of initiation and special events involving women.
