I don\'t think my father ever gave any of the dozen or so of these signed Merle photos away. He was the premier GOLD & PLATINUM awards maker on Music Row for 50 years and Merle Haggard was one of his closest friends, closer toward the end of their respective livesfrom about 2010 to 2016 than ever. \"Pop\" made most all (if not ALL) of Merles awards over the decades and as you can see in the listing photos, in the last few years of their lives, he presented Merle with a 5-Platinum award he made at a Nashville party he hosted for Merle attended by dozens of major country music stars. Pop spent the last 3 years of his life at the Tennessee State Veteran\'s Home in Murfreesboro, TN paralyzed from a fall he took in his awards workshop. Merle called him nearly every week to check on him, or Pop called Merle to chat. Toward the end when Merle was extremely ill in late 2015 out in Califrornia, and Pop was beginning to see the end coming, Merle called him nearly every week, promising to call Pop on his 92nd birthday February 19th. Pop died January 9th, 2016, and Merle passed soon after.
Pop had Merle and George Jones sign a stack of their \"Taste of Yesterday\'s Wine\" photos years before, and he got Merle to sign one of his very last promotional photos in this black hat in a gold pen. I haven\'t seen any others. I\'m pretty sure I could ask ten times more, but I inherited Pop\'s estate of his 50 years of collectibles and memorabilia and if you check my response comments you\'ll see that I\'m not an salesperson. I\'m a retired CNN anchor simply trying to liquidate his 3 U-Hauls of estate I moved from Nashville to Atlanta at extremely reasonable prices. I\'d like to get back to my golf game in my retirement at 70 years young.
