this is an original civil war swordmodel 1840 cavalry saber known as the wrist breaker. Made by horstman and sons Philadelphia pa. The makers mark indicate it was made between 1846 & 1848 The total contract was for only 10000 swords. small dent in sheath The handle has some missing material and there is staining on the blade, still a very nice sword in great condition for its age. 100 percent original
