This can is unique in many regards, it represents the first time Anheuser Busch offered their exclusively on draft only premium Michelob beer in any other form other than draft. This can also represents the first time Anheuser Busch used a paper type label.
Very, very few Michelob All Malt paper labels even exist loose or unmounted. This can represents the only know surviving original Michelob All Malt beer can that was filled and shipped from the factory in St Louis.
This particular can was in the Art & Pete Ressel collection at one time, Authors of the 1980 book: Beer CansUnlimited. If your fortunate enough to own a copy of the Unlimited you can clearly see the Michelob All Malt Beer can pictured in the book is in fact this can.
Michelob dates back to 1896 and was originally an ALL MALT recipe, hence the statement All Malt Beer. This can was part of a test market or some type of copyright maneuver as Anheuser Busch sent a very small amount of these Michelob All Malt Beer cans across the Mississippi River to their Belleville IL distributor. I\'ve been collected beer cans for over 40 years and I have never seen or heard of another original factory example filled and shipped from the Anheuser Busch factory.
