Offeredfor your consideration is an unusual Victorian Style Leaf Back , Boudoiror Side Chair. This chair is rareand highly desirable amazing carved backs in round curved and in the shape of aleaf. The mahogany frame curves around the back. The tapered front legs are carved in abeautiful leaf design. This beautiful chair is a true eye catcher. The chair is made of what we believe to behighly carved mahogany. We have no ideaabout its age but the carved flower and petals motif on top of the back, theshape of the leaf outline and the shape of the legs is very, very, similar to a“Spoon Back,” chair listed on which is estimated to date from the 1860’s. You can see the Spoon Back Chair at listing#281490795298 and see the style and similarities . The chairs could be cousins.
Ourchair was purchased at sale in the 1960’s and the upholstery was old and wasre-upholstered shortly after purchase.It was used sparingly in a guest bedroom until the owner died. It was passed to my mother-in-law in the mid70’s and like her sister-in-law, was kept in a guest bedroom.
CONDITION: The upholstery is red velvet and is in verynice condition. There are a fewscratches on the legs as you would expect of a piece of furniture of its age . The chair is sturdy and none of the legs areloose. See condition and photos.
