Mid Century Piero Fornasetti Design Leather Back Horse Dish Plate:

This is an excellent mid century large Ceramic leather backed elliptical Trinket dish with Fornasetti design.

Circa 1960s

The dish measures 12 by 5 inches with a depth of approximately 1 inch.

The dish is backed with blue/green leather which is marked made in Italy. We are unsure if the leather is original to the dish but it is approximately the same age and does have some wear and loss to the edges.

The Ceramic is in superb condition with delightful surrealist graphics decoration which we believe to be almost undoubtedly a Fornasetti design, there is a wonderful green graduated hue to the dish which intensifies towards the edges, the overall quality is outstanding

No chips cracks or damage but there is some crazing

As the dish is otherwise unmarked we are selling as \'in the manner of\'

It is possible that the leather is an addition which conceals further markings to the Ceramic but we have chosen not to remove it in case it is in fact original as it would be impossible to do so without damaging beyond repair.
