Here is an excellent mint condition mid century USSR Russian Orthodox Hand Carved Burled Wood with Hand Painted Design of St. Francis on face and Gold Crucifix on the back. The actual egg measures 6 inches tall X 5 inches wide. It has an amazing hand painted design on the front face of St. Francis with another holy man reading scripture. It is signed St. Francis under the picture and is also signed by artist in Russian as pictured above. The rear of the egg has a beautiful thick gold Crucifix. There is also thicker gold trim around the St. Francis picture. This is pretty much the best of the best when it comes to Russian eggs and it comes from a very desirable cold war era. It comes with a carved wood stand that also has applied gold detail. The egg with the stand, stands 10 inches tall. The burled wood offers amazing detail and the lacquer applied makes the piece elegant and a true eye catcher. Egg and stand are in excellent mint condition and they have been very well kept and displayed. Please email any question.
