Mike Patrick New England Patriots 1977 Topps Rookie Mexican Card #313 No Gum For Sale
Mike Patrick New England Patriots 1977 Topps Rookie Mexican Card #313 VG-EX (I dont know how to grade these as they have perforationremains & because there were only 2 cards per pack they have print roller lines but no gum or wax stains so i have graded them VG-EX)(NOTE: it is very time consuming to scancardsso for lowerpriced cards if there are multiples availablethe card you receive if not the scanned card will be as good or betteras the scanned card)
ROOKIE CARDS:Before 2005 there was no definition on what was considered a rookie card so most adopted the 1st apperance on a card as a rookie card. The reason theyhad to regulate these cards in the 1st place is that card companies got greedy in the 90's & 00's trying to get the 1st card out(mostly with baseball) by flooding the market with cards of players still in high school who never made it to the pros which left the collector with a bunch of useless cards of unrecognized players. Most of my listings will deal with 70's & 80's cards which had some of thier own problems with defining rookie cards. My rookie card definition is below.
Baseball:Pre 1981 I use the 1st appearance on aTopps card as a rookie card so if they had another card in the same Toppsrookie year like Kellogg's , Hostess , MSA Discs etc; those would also be rookie cards. After 1981 traded , update , & rookie sets were introduced so a player could have a rookie card in 2 different years example is a 1986 Fleer update Will Clark & 1987Fleer Will Clarkare both rookie cards.
Football: Toppsbread & butter for the 70's & 80's was baseball &was pretty complacent with football cards sometimes not releasing a card of a player for manyyears after they were drafted this was moreso with non skill players but ive seen as many as 9 years in between the time a player was drafted & thier 1st card.As with baseballI will still use the 1st apperance on a Topps cards as my definition for a rookie soif a Fleer In Action , Wonder , Kellog's etc was released in the same year these would be rookies too. After 1989 it became alot easier as more companies meant they had to becompetitive so they started releasing rookie cards of drafted players.
Hockey:Topps & O-Pee-Chee were the main card companies for Hockey cards in the 70's & 80's. Some O-Pee-Chee sets were larger & were able to include more playersso some players were not included in the Topps set. If an O-Pee-Chee card has the 1st apperance of a player I consider that the rookie & will note the next year Topps card as the 1st Topps card. As with other sports if an oddball set had the same player appear in an O-Pee-Chee or Topps rookie year than that would also be considered a rookie card.
Basketball:In the 70's & early 80's it was pretty much just Topps & the mid to late 80's was just Fleer so it is easy for rookies I use the 1st appearance on a card. I along with most collectors dont recognize Star as a real card company & refuse to even sell them due to the easy counterfitting of these is by Paypal only & Shipping for singles is by USPS 1st Class $1.64 for 1st card .15 each additional card for a max of $5 Free shipping with a $25 purchase paid on same invoice.
