World War 1 pre-15 black & white postcard shows then-Lieutenant (later Colonel) René Paul Fonck (1894 - 1953), Caption reads, \"Le lieutenant-aviateur francais Fonck qui a abattu 60 avions ennemis\" - translated on back side as \"French Aviator, Lieut. Fonck who brought down 60 enemy airplanes.\" Fonck was the top Allied fighter ace in World War I and still holds the title of \"all-time Allied Ace of Aces\". He was made an Officer of the Legion of Honor in 1918. Unused; excellent condition. Historic.
