This is a vintage tin miner\'s lunch box or lunch pail
This is the type that was used in the coal mines of N.E. Pa.
It measures approx. 8 1/2\" end to end and approx. 5 5/8\" front to back
With the lid off it measures approx. 5 7/8\" high with the lid on that changes to approx. 8\" high and with the handle up it becomes 11\" high from the top of the handle to the base of the pail
The lid is also a container to hold liquid - water etc.
In the 10th image you can see that the wire for the handle goes through a piece of metal and that there is another metal piect there. When you squeeze them together it will allow the lid to be removed otherwise it is locked in place
It has a wood handle in the center
Approx. 2\" from the top of the open pail you can see in image 14 that there is a short peg at each of the 4 corners I assume this may have been used to hold a tray but I am not sure I do NOT have a tray for it
You will receive what is shown in the images. The pail the container for liquids which is also the lid and the lid for the liquid container
This is in great condition with NO damage or repairs to it There is NO rust
