Not only is the stone itself naturally formed millions of years ago, but the custom wooden brilliant base on which it stands shows evidence that it is an antique. The moody, dark stone has a glacially washed surface that it would seem was formed by Master of the universe for the purpose for which it would be ultimately used.
The stone itself possesses a natural formed cave with large overhang that is heralded by the artistic wooden base that has a pair of stairs — one to the left and one to the right — rising up to form the beautifully curving floor of the cave. Many observers who have seen it have likened it to an amphitheater, so dramatic is its sculptural form.
During its realm in our home, it has been displayed a little below eye level, which displays it mystique very well. Of course lighting can be used for greater impact, but the truth is, when well placed, everyone who enters the room where it is stationed is immediately drawn to it. It begs for multitudinous questions from anyone held in rapt attention within its embrace.
This has been for us, as retiring collectors and throughout our lives, one of the miracles of the natural world as it was created. Its massive size and weight may not be as large as Niagara Falls, but the awe striking feeling of seeing it is similar.
We would hope that it could end up in a major museum for the enjoyment of many.

Weight: The weight can only be guessed at. We have no one in our home hefty enough to lift it to place it on a scale. We would guess at least 80-100 pounds. If necessary we will hire someone to come in and weigh it if you should so choose. But it is extremely dense.
