This is a beautiful example of the old Venetian glass which has been centuries in the making in as much as the techniques of the earlier glass were used during the ancient Roman Empire and before. Venice because of it\'s rich international trade ports, proximity and centuries of proficiency was exposed to all. The leaders of this republic, the Doges and the Church, became immensely wealthy form all this trade. The early art glass reflected this wealth in quality; crushing jewels to melt for color and lavish gold and silver tracery.Because of the canals in part throughout Venice, water was everywhere. The nature of art glass and in spite of its fragility, Venice made a fine art out of it. The City became the world center for diverse glass production inspired by ancient and mechanically speaking, newer techniques to increase the needed quantity. Furnaces, with their great heat required, were dangerous and were built on the Island of Murano. Furnace owners had outlets and homes in the City with their furnaces in Murano. The Barovier family led the way many generations ago. Several of the same old factories still make family art glass like the Tosos and Segusos, while others like Venini have been bought up but still carry on their ancient traditions of quality.
I\'m listing 100 pieces of Venetian art glass for the holidays at holiday prices with free shipping. (I\'ll ship internationally but not everywhere and not for free). Please contact us before buying if outside of the US continent.
Vases make perfect gifts because one may put some flowers in it for a \"now and a forever\" gift. I\'m using this introduction over and over, in case you see it elsewhere with another piece. If a vase is signed and or labeled I\'ll describe that. If it is one of the ocean of unsigned missing labels items, I\'ll attribute it as described when purchased or applying my 30 years experience and the advice of the big sale house\'s experts over the years. Very similar versions of specific glass are also good for most \"ABEs\" (Attributed by example) where one know of a signed or in someway more definitely attributed.\\This one looks like a vase made during the \'80s by Fratelli Toso or Venini. Interesting flattened flask shaped body with a pencil neck. Color swirling ribbons of red aqua and yellow. The yellow looks like it may be uranium glass. Exquisitely made with great symmetry in the stripes all the way up the neck. Bianconi for Venini designed a lot of glass items like this, some for Cardin, though I think those had more stripes than this. It appears to be vintage! Fratelli Toso did excellent work like this also and Moretti made a lot of pencil neck bottles and vases. Fairly thin glass not very heavy. 9+\"H, 3.5W and 2\"deep. No issues. Perfect!
