This is an extremely rare and coveted Museum quality Kerman-Ravar that will interest the serious collector. Only TWO of these rugs were ever made, and the other sold at a Sotheby\'s sale in 2007. This rug comes from a private collection and has never been walked on. It was used as a wall hanging only. It is in absolute mint condition and you will never find another rug like this again or in this condition.
The design is the Tree of Life - known in Farsi as: \"derakhteh zendehgee\" or the Millefleur.The intricacy and workmanship is absolutely breathtaking making it a veritable work of art. There is not one floral pattern that is repetitive on the entire rug -- each design being unique and different. The details are unparalleled and thevibrant colors intoxicating. This work is only something that the finest weaver in the world \"Muhammed Ibn Ja\'far\" would be capable of. Ja\'Far himself has signed this piece at the top. And for those that are knowledgable about Kirman/Kerman rugs, a piece by Ja\'Far is literally impossible to find and few and far between. He passed away years ago.
The rug measures 9 feet 7 inches by 5 feet 5 inches.
There is no price that one can put on a rug like this - it is a piece of history that will be an incredible investment to whoever the lucky owner is.
