Museum Quality French Inlaid Jewelry Cabinet c.1850 - Maria:
$5500.00

One of the most exquisite jewelry boxes or cabinets I have ever had, a rare find dating to around 1850. French in origin and made from exotic and expensive Rosewood, the cabinet is beautifully shaped, quite outstanding. The box is smothered in the most exceptional quality inlay, comprising of Mother of Pearl, Abalone shell, cut and engraved brass and pewter. This was clearly a bespoke box for a very grand family with the centre of lid inlaid with the name \" Maria \".The cabinet comes with a working lock and key and once opened, the magnificent inlay is revealed to the front of the three drawers each with a gilded pull (it looks like the top one has had to be replaced, done very well and some time ago). The lid lifts to reveal a mirror to the interior of the lid. The top section has a shaped tray which can be removed. Each of the drawers retains the original custom made removable quilted silk pads, quite exceptional.Magnificent and impressive in every way. 13 1/2\" x 9 1/2\" x 9 1/2\".Item ID:37263FREE Worldwide Registered Airmail Directly from London, England
