NATIVE AMERICAN WIND FLUTE - HAND MADE

This is a very unique musical instrument and is ONE OF A KIND. It is fashioned after the native American flutes that were made many years ago. We have updated and made them more aesthetic now days. But they are still made by hand by master craftsmen and each one is one of a kind.

This flute is in the key of E, which is burned into the wood in the back of the flute. Also, near the very top is the name of the brand - Wind Spirit, and the maker of the flute.

This flute is very special. It incorporates redwood burl, which is very hard to come by and is expensive. This flute was made by a man who lives not far from the coast in Oregon, where the Redwood trees grow. The burl wood is mostly found in the groves on the coast in the very north of California. The burl has fantastic patterning and is beautiful against the lighter wood. I placed tape over the third hole down from the top, where your third finger would go. This hole normally does not play unless you are a very advanced player and then it is mostly half covered. There are lots of books on to help you learn to play these wonderful instruments.

Near the bottom is a hand carved face of an old man. Again, this just makes it even that much more of an amazing one of a kindflute.

The flute is approximately 26 1/2\" long and about 1 5/8\" in diameter.

Finally,the fetish is an otter, not a normal fetish for this flute by anymeans, but an otter! He lays on his back as if taking in all there is to see or sunning himself, or whatever else otters do for relaxation. The otter will be in place as best Ican when I ship this flute to you. However, the fetishes tend to shift, especiallywhen being shipped. The bottom of his underside needs to be about 1/8\" over thevery top hole and then tie him carefully with the leather straps. He will still tend to slip while you are tying, so be patient, tie very hard, and thencarefully shift the otter ever so slightly untilyou get a sound out of the flute. Youmight need a second pair of hands for this, or especially strong hands to tie the leather ties. The leather will go twice over the otter\'s belly. I have been tempted a few times to glue the leather to the belly of the otter - just do not glue anything to the flute! I have resisted so far!

Be patient with this process and you will find the most melodic, low and haunting sound out of this magnificent flute that you have ever heard.
