NAVAJO~ VINTAGE (1920s-1940s) BRACELET WITH BEAUTIFUL EX-LARGE SLEEPING BEAUTY TURQUOISE STONES SET IN A STRIKING STERLING CUFF – SIGNED BY JOHNNIE JOHNSON

Three large, vibrant sky blue Sleeping Beauty Turquoise stones adorn this striking, one-of-a-kind, collectible Johnnie Johnson NavajoSterling Silver Cuff. Johnnie Johnson was an active Navajo Silversmith in the 1920\'s through the \'40\'s.

Arizona Sleeping Beauty Turquoise is thought to havebeen initially mined strictly by hand by Native Americans going as far back as A.D. 200 to A.D. 1300, during the time of the Anasazi or \"Ancient Ones”. Only much later, in the 1900s, was this beautifulturquoise rediscovered and purely by accident, when mining operationswere reopened in the area pursuing gold and copper. Valuedas being one of the most important Turquoise mines in the world for its vibrant sky blue clarity and very little visible matrix, this turquoise gets its namefrom where its mined, adjacent to a mountain, which in profile resembles a recliningwoman with her arms crossed. Today Sleeping Beauty Turquoise is evenmore highly sought after and valued, as sadly the Sleeping Beauty TurquoiseMine closed in the Fall 2012.

This braceletmeasures approximately 5 1/4” around on the inside (not including its opening.) The opening at the back is adjustable withpressure and measures an additional 1 1/2” w.The largest, central Sleeping Beauty Turquoise stone measuresapproximately 1 1/8” h x 5/8” w with side stones measuring approximately 15/16”h x 1/2” w and 7/8” h x 7/16” w. Each Sleeping Beauty Turquoisestone has 3 intricate Sterling Silver rows adorning its setting: an inner Sterling Braid; a row of hand-stampedSterling flowers; and lastly, an outside row of hand-stamped fans. Stones are set on 3 Sterling Bands that are further enhanced with hand-stamping. JohnnieJohnson’s Hallmark: J J (staggered) and Sterling are stamped on the inside ofthe piece.

This much treasured, old collectible comes from an extensive PrivateCollection that was located in Colorado for many years where it was preserved and not worn.It is in pristine condition and strikingly beautiful.
