This FANTASTIC HANDMADE - SIGNED ORIGINAL - HUGE 16\" X 16\" NAVAJO - SAND PAINTING IS EXQUISITELY MADE. PURCHASED YEARS AGO AT A TRADING POST DURING A FAMILY VACATION BY A FORMER COLLECTOR - LIQUIDATING A THREE GENERATION ESTATE AND THIS WAS STORED FOR YEARS BUT, NEVER USED NOR DISPLAYED! EXCELLENT CONDITION! PLEASE SEE PHOTOS. On back signature in pencil Carolyn Chicclarello? artist (unsure). There is a certificate of authenticity attached. The Navajo sand painting description attached on backside states: These are partial depictions of the intricate sand paintings created by a medicine man to help cure an affliction of the body and/or mind. The figures which are pertinent to the Navajo way of life. The most common figures are the male (round head) and female (square head) yei figures. there are four sacred plants: squash, corn, bean and Tobacco. The four cardinal directions are represented by the colors white, black, blue and yellow. Actual sand paintings which are created on the ground must be destroyed each day at sundown and recreated again.
