For your consideration, thisBÉNITIER, holy water font

French, from Old French benëoitier, from benëoit, past participle of benëir to bless, from Late Latin benedicere — more at benediction

This holy water font is a puzzle, it looks very old, possibly 19th century. Not marked as often these weren\'t in those daysand could be from NEVERS.

A most unusual Christ hanging on the cross, in a naive folk like style.

Measuring 8 1/2 inches long and 3 1/2 across the widest part.

Some of the blue paint is worn off or I think it could have happened in the firing, otherwise, this is in excellent condition.

Thank you for viewing this sale.
