Here’s the deal on these wood screens…………we import them inmass quantity from a hot humid part of India.They are all individually prepackaged in corrugated boxes and bandedprior to loading on ocean cargo containers.Units are then loaded and packed in ocean cargo containers (630 unitsper 40 foot high cube ocean cargo container), loaded on rail line, railed toMumbai (Bombay) where they are then loaded on ocean cargo vessels and make their way tothe USA. Total time stored in oceancargo containers can vary anywhere from 10-15 weeks depending on potential hangups with US Customs upon entry on USA soil.Despite efforts to control moisture and humidity inside ocean cargocontainers (line container walls with anti-moisture silica sleeves beforepacking) moisture still causes some problems particularly with handmade woodenitems. The main problem experienced is surfacemold. Roughly, we are experiencing surface mold on about 8 out of 10 wood screen units we pull from boxes to inspect. This mold can be wiped off with a dampenedcloth (warm water and bleach). Some aremore labor intensive than others to rid of all mold, and can cause somediscoloration of stain in some areas, but if you are willing to put in someelbow grease so to speak, you can have an impressive looking hand carved woodscreen for a super cheap cost. On average it takes us about 20 - 30 minutes to wipe down each wood screen unit completely. The best way to do it is to add a half cup of bleach to 3 gallons of water. Dip a wooden base bristle brush in the chlorinated water and brush down the entire surface of the wood screen surface, then wipe dry with a towel. Works like a charm for us, and doesn\'t appear to fade the stain. Thebottom line is that we just don’t have the time to unpack every single woodscreen from its banded corrugated packaging, and perform the laborourselves. Doing so would compromise theintegrity of the packaging materials, and put us at a further financial loss inlabor and new replacement packaging materials up and beyond what we are alreadyexperiencing selling them below our end cost. With Free Shipping we have an end cost to youof $189 each. Shipping on average is $50to most locations in the contiguous 48 states.Add in our landed cost ($108 per screen plus an additional 25% to coverrail line, ocean cargo, trucking, customs clearance to our door step = $27 perunit…..total end landed cost to us = $135 per unit). Add in shipping, list and sell fees, andpaypal payment processing fees, and we have about $199 tied up into each one ofthese screens shipping it to your door, so you can see how we are at a loss on each screen sold at $189 each including shipping. Makes me wonder why I even import theseanymore. Definitely not worth the riskof investment, and back breaking effort unloading and storing to only run intoloss of profit problems. We will notunpackage any of these wood screen units from their packaging and inspectprior to shipping, and will only grab from our inventory and go. Please do not ask for us to unwrap andinspect and take pictures of individual units so you can pick and choose. We are already losing money as it is, andcan’t be in a position to absorb further losses in time (time is our mostvaluable resource), effort, and resources.Any request to do so will not be replied. We are being straight forward, candid, andhonest with you about what we are up against with these imported wood screenunits. Our response rating is a testament that we are honest business people. If you want to save money anddon’t mind putting in some work to get them into tip top shape, then thispresents a good opportunity for you. Ifyou are super particular, and want to knit pick about item condition after youreceive it (despite taking advantage of our money saving opportunity), challengingour item description, which we have made every effort at being thorough andcompletely honest about from the very start, then please do not buy from us, and please pay moregoing somewhere else. Please do not try and lowball us below our already low cost.Doing so will not be replied.Sorry, but no room for further discount beyond our already low cost formultiple purchases. Due to large sizeand weight, each wood screen unit must be shipped as an individual package, andour fedex ground account is billed accordingly.
