These Cartes de Visite (CDVs) of ‘white’ or light-skinned biracial slaves were intended for whites who were outraged that children with such light complexion could be enslaved. It’s a sad commentary that for some, outrage at slavery was greater depending on complexion. It should be noted that some from this series also featured darker skinned slaves.
