Steuben Glasswas the premier American glass company founded by Frederick Carder in 1903. It ranked as the world\'s foremost artisan glass house. Steuben glass, handmade by American craftsmen at the works in Corning NY, was frequently the United States\' gift of State to foreign dignitaries. Steuben marketed no \"seconds\". Items that did not meet their exacting standardswere destroyed by being smashed in a bin. Steuben, a luxury brand andthe ultimate in art glass. Since the glassworks was torn down in 2012 during the recent recession, ithas been increasingly difficult to find collector worthy USA made examples like this piece. This is a design that will hold or increase in value if it is handled with care and properly maintained.
