This is an antique smoking set in its original case.
The set is made up of a lovely ashtray with a green enamel finish and a cheroot / cigarette holder carved from mother of pearl with a fine gold rim at the wide cigarette end.
No maker\'s marks on the items themselves but the case is named W. H. Newman, English make. London Birmingham Manchester Liverpool and they are well known for this type of high end smoking related items.
The set is in excellent collectable condition with some signs of age and wear. No damage to the enamelling, metalware or the mother of pearl. There are some surface scuffs on the case. The cigarette holder has been used so there are burn and Tobacco stains on the end.
The ashtray is brass with the green guilloche enamel design.
It is very plush.
The ashtray is nearly 8cm dia and the cheroot holder is 10cm long.
The soft leather box has some slight scuff marks to the front edge...it has kept both items in nice overal condition and kept them together.
The case that the ashtray and cheroot fit into measures approx. 110mm x 100mm x 20mm.
