Nice Victorian Hallmarked Solid Sterling Silver Card Case Made By Ashton & Son (Thomas & William Ashton
Description -Splendid antique mid 19th century Victorian card case with hinged lid, the card case has a beautiful hand engraved arabesque pattern on both sides with a central circular vacant cartouche, the card case has a silver-gilt interior.
The card case is fully hallmarked with the anchor for Birmingham assay, the lion passant indicating 925 grade solid sterling silver, the date letter (unidentifiabledue to rubbing) c1855 and the makers mark \"A & S\" which is Ashton & Son.
Condition -The card case is in fair condition considering its age and use, there are four small holes around the sides, some repairs and also a couple of dinks around the sides, there are no nasty dents, the hinge is in very good working order and the engraving is nice and clear. the interior silver gilt is also in good order.
Dimensions & Weight -The card case is 10cm long x 7.1cm wide, the weight is 57.8 grams, suitable for credit/debit cards.
