Horse ShoeA114 –RARE UnusualRoman Iron Mule or Donkey Shoe. Of a very characteristic oval shape with aslightly upturned tip and nail holes around the sides only and very differentfrom modern horse shoes. The circular horseshoe was used to give extra supportat the heel. The nail holes(6) for the shoe to be attached to the hoof are ovalin shape. A few minor knocks and nibbles otherwise intact and in outstanding conditionfor a object, more than 1500 years old.Considering that the artifact is made from Iron it is in remarkably good condition. Professionally cleaned and very goodpreserved!!! Surface covered with resoluble acrylic film which prevents any further decay of the metal. It would be a precious addition to your collection. Very RARE type!!!
