NORTHWOOD “WISHBONE” PCE ELECTRIC PURPLE CARNIVAL GLASS BOWL - SUPERB!(Before moving to NC, I lived in upstate NY in the same town as the man who I considered the leading Carnival Glass saleeer in the country and who has forgotten more about this glass than most of us will ever know. We were friends and I listed his items on for him. In exchange for the listing of his items, he taught me about Carnival Glass, and virtually everything I know about it, I learned from him. Unfortunately, we moved too soon and there is a lot more that I don’t know, than I do.
One of the things that I did learn was that color and condition, especially when there is a lack of rarity, are of PARAMOUNT IMPORTANCE. So ….. when I do purchase Carnival for re-sale, the color and condition of the piece must be exceptional. When you see one of my listings, you can be sure that you are getting a piece that is exactly as pictured and described.)
This sale is for a Northwood WISHBONE Carnival Glass Pie Crust edge bowl with a Basketweave exterior and exceptional color!
It measures 9 ½’ in diameter, 2 5/8” high and 4” across its collar base.
It is a deep purple base color (could be called “Black Amethyst” without too much of an argument) with “electric” multi-hued iridescence of blue, rose, purple and gold on its interior surface with mostly silvery color on its exterior. It has the desired “stretch effect” on the interior 1 ¼” un-patterned outer edge.It has a couple of tiny (1/16th to 1/8th inch) “splits” between edge points that I do not know if they were made when the bowl was removed from the mold or later, but other than that, it is in virtually MINT condition with absolutely no chips, cracks, fleas, damage or repairs.FOLKS – THIS PIECE IS BEAUTIFUL! If you don’t like this bowl; you just don’t like Carnival Glass.NONE OF MY PICTURES ARE “RETOUCHED” – YOU SEE EXACTLY WHAT THE CAMERA SEES!
