NOVELTY VICTORIAN SILVER & GLASS DISH ~ London 1894 ~ Modelled as Family Crest :
$68.38

This is a Victorian novelty piece of silver. It is a medium sized dish made of sterling silver and glass and modelled as a family crest. The dish has been modelled in the shape of a Shield with a Battle Axe across the Shield.A bit of research using a source such as Fairburn’s Book of Crests may find the family using this crest.Makers of the piece were Thornhill & Co of New Bond Street London. They have put their name onto the silver as well as a Registration number 24137 which is also for 1894.Hallmarks show London assay mark, Lion Passant for sterling and date letter T for 1894.The dish measures 9 cm x 8.5 cm.Condition is very good; the glass has no chips or cracks. The silver is also very good, a couple of very small dings, just mentioned for accuracy. This is a lovely piece of novelty silver, something just that little bit unusual.PLEASE HAVE A LOOK AT MY OTHER ITEMSI ship WORLDWIDE and if possible will combine shipping on otherPurchases
