This Caterpillar Club pin was awarded to a flier from Washington state early in America\'s participation in World War II. Compared to later pins, it is exceptional quality. It is in pristine condition, having been carefully wrapped in soft cloth since being given to my mother-in-law while World War II was in progress. The eyes may be ruby chips.I wrote a column about this item for the July 25, 2015 edition of the Daily Astorian in Oregon. Included in this sale is a photograph from my mother-in-law\'s collection that I believe to be R.C. Hughes, the man who received the pin. Here is a copy of my column on the subject:
