Size: Blade is approximately 32-1/4\", with an overall length of approximately 37-3/8\".

Description: Up for sale is an original F.W. Holler, WWII, German Officers sword, with portepee and scabbard. The sword features a chrome steel blade, with a wide fuller or blood groove that extends from about 2\" below the crossguard, down to the end of the terza. The crossguard that wraps up to the knuckle guard and ends at the mouth of the panther with red glass eyes are all ornately decorated with rococo style leaves, flowers and diamond symbols. The portepee is wrapped around the rear quillion of the cross guard, anchored from the \"P\" shape knuckle guard. The all steel scabbard is painted in black with a single step-up throat, a single hanger ring and a scabbard tip protector.

German armed forces, as well as the civilian organizations employed swords during WWII, mainly as a symbol of status. The swords had to be purchased by the individuals and they have a choice to get a simple model or one that has upgrades to make it more attractive.

Condition: This original F.W. Holler, WWII, German Army Officers sword, with portepee and scabbard are allin “Good” to “Very Good” condition. Thereare no major damages, losses or worn materials. There are scratches at the quarta of the blade due to the repeated unsheathing of the sword. There are a few minute chips on what appears to be gold plating in the crossguard extension that\'s covering the ricasso. The gold plating has also been worn off on both sides of the panther head, and at the corners of the quillion. There are minute cracks on the original portepee leather. The black paint in the scabbard has flaked in a few places. Please see our photographs for further details, and check out ourresponse and other items.
