Welcome. Here I am offering a very rare find of a wonderful Black Chef Cookie Jar made by the National Silver Company (NASCO) around 1934. Recent attempts to locate National Silver in New York and other places have been unsuccessful. Shown in the Complete Cookie Jar Book the best known and most sought National Silver Cookie jars are the Chef and Mammy. Cookie jar is 10\" inches tall with hat on and the bottom cookie area is approx. 5\" inches tall and approx. 6\" inches across the top from shoulder to shoulder. Bottom of the jar is approx. 5 3/4\" inches x 6\" inches and is marked U.S.A. N.S.C.

Face is paintedwith black eyes that at one time had white around them but has mostly worn off. Thelips and mouth are bright red with a little white shown (teeth?).The blue on his pants and his jacket with buttons is still good with very little worn off.

In very good condition with no chips or breaks. Inside has some crazing that has slight browning.In amazingly good condition for being 83 years. Price listed in the 2001 Collectors Price Guide is $275.00 so don\'t miss this wonderful cookie jar.

Jar is heavy and will be shipped double boxed to prevent breakage.
