Beginning in the early 1990s, a new turquoise reached the market. A little bit at first to test the waters, but when it caught on, it waswhitehot!Dry Creek white turquoise was the hottest new turquoise of that decade, and its limited availability made it even hotter. Traders couldn\'t keep Dry Creek white pieces in stock. And then tragedy struck.

More than ten years ago tragedy struck in the Dry Creek mining districtof Nevada when the mine owner of one the most popular contemporary domestic turquoise ever accidentally impaled himself on a mining tool and died. His widow refused to sell the mines they owned and over the years the supply of this coveted turquoise diminished as the price per carat rose.

But in the last few months some incredible stones from the Dry Creek mine have reached the market, and they\'re spectacular. So here, for time in more in many years years, it\'s available again in limited quantities and who knows for how long.

This revivalist, old style bracelet was created from the onlytruewhite turquoise ever found. This isrealwhite turquoise, not Sacred White Buffalo which frequently is misrepresented as \"white\" turquoise.

This old style white turquoise bracelet with an old pawn finish features a large oval cabochon (domed) Dry Creek white stone measuring 1 and 3/16ths\" by 15/16ths\" and boasting both well defined and fine dark copper red vein matrix throughout. The old pawn finish mimics the appearance and patina of naturally aged sterling silver. A sterling silver twisted rope overlay surrounds the stone, and the artist decorated the custom made bezel with four three dimensional or repoussé curved cloud overlays at the top and bottom of the bezel, two three dimensional repoussérainbows on both sides of the bezel with a large handmade sterling silver raindrop bead overlay in between, and six repoussé corn plant overlays next to the cloud overlays on both sides of the stone at the top and bottom.Both shanks are beautifully hand stamped with three rows of rain and corn plant designs.

The bracelet is 1¾\" wide in the center, and its substantial split three wire bracelet frame rejoins next the bezel and tapers to a width of 3/8ths\" at both terminals. It has an inside measurement of 5¼\" with an adjustable opening gap of 1 and 1/8th\" making it suitable for wrists that are 6¼\" to 6¾\" in circumference with little or noverycarefuladjustment of the shanks and/or terminals.

Navajo artist Robert Shakey created this bracelet, and his hallmark and sterling are on the back of the solid sterling silver bezel.
