Calvin Begay is to contemporary Navajo inlay work what H*a*r*r*y M*o*r*g*a*n was to revivalist lapidary work. Many critics consider Calvin the best Navajo inlay artist working today.

Calvin began making jewelry at age 10, and over the years has won numerous awards at the Gallup Ceremonial including the top prize, Best in Show in 1989,and Best Box in 1991.His designs have been featured in \"Arizona Highways\" magazine and other southwestern magazines and can be found in several prestigious private collections and exhibitions. Calvin often says that his most significant artistic inspiration has been the famed Fabergé eggs with their complex designs and use of many precious and semi gemstones that Calvin also utilizes in his designs.

This creative spirit also finds time to compete in rodeos and drive his all terrain vehicles in the remote desert back country of the Navajo reservation and environs. Calvin lives where he was raised -- in the small Navajo community of Tohatchi, New Mexico.

This collector quality contemporary original Calvin Begay design multi gemstone bracelet features eight virtually identical inlaid links each created with expensive purple sugilite, vibrantly colored turquoise hued lab opal, and black jet.Calvin included a high quality and expensive hidden ¾\" long, 5/16ths\" wide, and 3/32nds\" thickbox clasp and an always welcome 2\" long safety chain. Each curved or contoured link measures about 13/16ths\" in length, 7/16ths\" in the center,5/16ths\" at both ends, and they\'re 1/8th\" thick. The raised inlay channels are 5/8ths\" by 5/16ths\" by 3/16ths.

When the clasp is closed, the bracelet is 7½\" in circumference. I\'d recommend it for wrists that are 6½\" to no more than 7\" in circumference because you need a little extra length to easily fasten the clasp.
