Here is a rare and unique ANTIQUE NAVAJO SADDLE or CHILD\'S BLANKET FROM ABOUT 1900, HAND WOVEN WITH CHURRO CARDED AND VEGETAL DYED WOOLS. This blanket is hand woven from hand spun and hand carded beautiful Churro Sheep Wools - the shades of brown, beige, grey and white, are made from hand spun and carded natural Churro Sheep Wools. The red, blue, and purple shades are hand dyed wools with Reservation based Vegetal Dyes - all colors a beautiful, with sheen and luster. Note the many Lazy Lines within this weaving.
THIS WEAVING IS SIMPLE LOOKING AT FIRST GLANCE YET A VERY COMPLICATED AND DETAILED WEAVING WHEN YOU LOOK CLOSELY, IT HAS MANY COLORS OF HAND CARDED AND HAND DYED WOOLS, SEVERAL TYPES OF WEAVING TECHNIQUES ARE USED AND THERE IS VARIEGATION, LANDSCAPE LINES (IN FIELD) AND MANY LAZY LINES. A CLASSIC TRANSITIONAL BANDED NAVAJO BLANKET!

The size of this textile is approximately 39\" X 32\",with a hand spunwool warp of about 8, and a hand spun Wool Weft of about 26 (a nicely woven and refined weave)- a beautifully designed and well constructed piece of NativeAmerica!CONDITION - EXCELLENT for AGE! (Please see all pics!): NO old dry/tired/bad wool, all wool is in superb condition, NO Bug/insect damage, and NO Notable fading of colors, NO Holes, and NO Notable Stains. The End Selvage Cords are about 95% intact/present, a braid of two, 2-ply red wool yarns - a couple of brief breaks. The Side Selvage Cords are about 80% intact/present, a twist of two grey 2-ply yarns, a few minor breaks and some wear to side selvage. There are a few small repairs to selvage cords / edges. The corners are in good condition, with minor wear, due to time/use and the corner ties are mostly gone due to time/use (see pics for corners).

THIS IS A CLASSIC NAVAJO ANTIQUE WEAVING WHICH DISPLAYS VERY WELL AS IS - A COLORFUL AND TRULY CLASSIC NAVAJO BANDED DESIGN !

As you can see in some pics the rug is wrinkled and others smooth, sorry, the rug will display smoothly on your wall, just stored poorly for awhile doe it had some temporary wrinkles….
