This new Napa Glass Cloche is made of very sturdy thick, hand blown glass. It has a smooth flat rim and a large round glass knob on the top that makes for easy lifting. Imperfections and tiny bubbles are characteristic of this type of glass and add to the character. Each is slightly different. This measures 13.5\" high by 11\" in diameter.
The purpose of the glass cloche was to protect an early garden plant from bleak cold and frost. This would hasten their crops to maturity.
Today cloches are still very much on the garden scene and are often used as decorative accents in the home.
