Here is an unusual Newcomb College Pottery four handled vase with carved overlapping leaves and flower buds encircling the squat form between the handles. It is very well carved with good detail, contrast and color. It is in undamaged condition withno chips, cracks, or repairs, however in the firing the clay shrank where the handles were attached at the rim which then filled in with glaze... they are not cracked through the glaze and the filled in lines are smooth, see photos. It measures 4 inches tall and 5 5/8 inches in diameter. Well marked with the firms die-stamped NC mark, a con-joined JM for potter Joseph Meyer, a con-joined CmC for decorator Corinne Marie Chalaron and date code LK 23 for 1921. A fine piece of Southern Arts & Crafts art pottery.
