Nice, Very Early Child\'s 1-Room School House Slate c.1850-1860 !
DESCRIPTION:Nice, very early American antique child\'s slate. Very small, and the kind that a child would use in a 1-room school house, c.1850-60. A nice piece of natural thick polished slate set in a wooden frame. Nice style and early design.You can picture a young student doing his lessons on this!!
Scans show it all, including the corners with the wood joinery that was used to make it.
This makes a great decorationitem, hanging on a wall in a kitchen, family room, or living room, or on a shelf or mantel. Also, a great addition to an education or early school collection or display. It is just a really nice, primitive Americana item from the early days of our country. CAN ALSO STILL BE USED!!!
It measures about 7 1/2” long x 5 3/4” wide overall. In very good, complete condition with a nice aged patina.
