Offered for your consideration is an exceptionallynice vintageChicago Cutlery C42Chef\'s knife. This knife is from Chicago Cutlery\'s \"Cherrywood\" series. These kniveshave difficult to find in decent shape and they\'re almost always found with heavy dishwasher damage. This series was even more prone to thebleaching, warping, cracking, and fade that plagues the Walnut series. At best, the high temperatures and harsh detergents of automatic dishwashers strip woods of their natural oils and at best leaves the wood looking dry and tired. At worst the handles can be completely ruined. This example remains very nice. There was quite a bit of variance in the color with this series. This is lighter example and it has never been oiled. A light coat of mineral oil will very quickly darken the wood substantially.The knife shows few signs of use and remains in excellent, original condition with no problems. The blade has not been sharpened and clearlydisplays the edge striations that were characteristic of CC\'s hand honing process. The blade finish is completely free of any grind marks or sharpening abrasions. The edge is free of any nicks, chips, or damage and showslittle wear. It remains fairly sharp and the knife is ready for immediate use, although a quick touch-up would have it razor sharp in no time. The Cherrywood handle is very nice on this example. The handle is tightly secured and is free of any chips, cracks, dents, or gouges. The wood retains its original color and has not been oiled. It\'s free of any cracks, chips, dents or gouges and it has a great feel in the hand. It shows none of the dishwasher fade/ bleaching that\'s so common to these knives with just a touch of normal sink washing water exposure. It also shows none of the associated gapping and the wood remains tight to the tang over the entire length. The knife measures 11-3/8\" in overall length. This would be an excellent replacement piece or spare for an older set. Of course, it would also be great as a stand-alone knife for anyone who appreciates quality American-made cutlery.An excellent example of this classic CC
