For your consideration is this Japanese Minister of the East Hina doll. Silk Kimono Japanese Dolls on a wood platform. No Maker\'s mark and date unknown. His expressive faces has several layers of Gofun, with delicately painted hairlines and wrinkles of age. Has hair for eyebrows (instead of painted) and long white beard. He has his mouths open, showing teeth and tongue, and has glass eyes. His silky hair is tied on top of his head. Heads is removable and on a stems. Layers of silk kimono.
Minister of the East He would have a sword, bow, and quiver of arrows. They often sit on the second shelf on each side of the Imperial couple for advice to them and protection.
