It\'s hard to say in detail the importance of this item and to give it the proper description that it deserves but I will try. First I will tell you the background of it and how I got it.
On August 22nd 1989 against the Oakland Athletics, Nolan Ryan passed a plateau that will never be broken again and that is the day he struck out Ricky Henderson for his 5000th Strikeout! This is how I got it. My father owns a sports retail franchise that was once called Merle Harmon\'s Fan Fair and he became friends with the legendary baseball announcer who also was the founder of the retail franchise Merle Harmon. Merle Harmon was announcing this game the night of the 5000th strikeout, and after the game being friends with all of these players and coaches, he took his official Scoresheet down to the clubhouse and had every single player and coach from the Texas Rangers and the Oakland Athletics to sign their names beside their names in the order of batting lineup and rotations. Now I know it\'s a little hard to make out some of the players who played and their autographs, so here is the list of all the players and coaches that played in the game and autographed this scoresheet:
Texas Rangers:
Nolan Ryan, Cecil Espy, Fred Manrique, Harold Baines, Ruben Sierra, Julio Franco, Raphael Palmeiro, Pete Leach, Steve Buechele, Chad Petralli, Dennis Eckersley and the coach Bobby Valentine.
Oakland Athletics:
Rickey Henderson, Carney Lansford, Jose Canseco, Ron Hassey, Dave Henderson, Mark McGuire, Tony Phillips, Terry Steinbach, Walt Weiss, Bob Welch and the Coach Tony Larusso.
As you can see on the left hand side there is a description of what this scoresheet is and the signifance and you can also see the personal note that Merle Harmon wrote to me the day he handed it to me in which we were at the ballpark at Arlington during the day while the rangers were practicing.
According to Merle Harmon he only made a few laser copies of the original and I was fortunate to get one. So as you can see this will be your only chance ever to get your hands on this piece of MLB History.
As you can also see it has a natural curl, it has been stored in a box for the last 24 years, completely away from allowing any Sunlight (to prevent fading), Water and of course no where near any smoke. For being this old and not framed, this sheet is in excellent condition and I assure you there are no tears or creases and if properly framed over time it will flatten out. Shipping is a little higher than we normally charge, but and I am sure you understand I will have to ship it in a manner that will help prevent any type of damage such as creases and tears during shipping, which will cost a lot more money than normal.
