Excellent craftsmanship!!! VERY deep cuts, so detailed! EASY recognizable as one of Gino\'s pieces!! Beautifully dark stain applied, then polished to accentuate the natural grain of the wood. It\'s made for wall hanging (not carved at the back). Signed at the back.

Gino (Eugene) Seward was born in 1972 inNanaimo,British Columbia. He is of both Coast Salish (father) and Kwakwaka’wakw (mother) descent. Gino began carving at the age of eleven and was taught by his Salish grandfather and by the Kwakiutl master carvers Jackson and William Robertson. Gino prefers to carve in both red and yellow cedar, which he uses to create finely, detailed plaques and amazing freestanding totems. Gino, now considered to be a master carver, has taken on two apprentices (Danny Pugles and Sammy Seward) and is proud to aid in the preservation of his cultures artistic traditions.
