OLD ANTIQUE VTG EARLY 1900\'s BELT RY RAILROAD LANTERN W/ ETCHED RED GLASS GLOBE
This offering is for an antique \"BELT RY\" Railroad Lantern. The lantern is complete with the original red glass globe with clearly etched lettering that reads \"BELT Ry.\". The lantern is also marked on the top \"BELT RY\" as well as \"THE ADAMS & WESTLAKE CO\" along with multiple patent dates. The top flange is also marked with patent dates along the rim edge. The red glass globe is marked with a Kopp Circle K trademark on the back side as well as having the Belt Ry marking on the front. Also note that the glass is indeed red, not red flashed over clear. The globe measures app 3¼\" tall with a top outside opening diameter of app. 4¼\" at each end. The condition of the globe is outstanding with no chips, no cracks and no breaks. There is a bit of scattered haze that we have not tried to clean but overall it is very very nice. The lantern has some surface rust on the top as is typical as well as on the handle. I know the handle is supposed to fold but I have not been able to get it to do so and do not want to force it. The wick adjustment lever is very tight and again will not turn and I do not wish to force it. The lantern has some typical overall scattered surface rust as seen in our photo\'s both above and below and as mentioned above. We have not cleaned it other than to brush off the dust so a proper cleaning will doubtless improve the overall look of the lantern. However, it does look like a previous owner cleaned the patent dates a bit so the appear a bit glossier than the other metal. This great old antique railroad lantern displays great and will make an excellent addition to someone\'s collection, shouldn\'t it be yours!!!
