Here is an OLDER very well carved WOLF KACHINA, IN GREAT CONDITION FOR AGE- A WELL HIGH QUALITY AND VERY PAINTED NATIVE AMERICAN COTTONWOOD KATSINA CARVING. A nice and collectible vintage, authentic Hopi Katsina Doll, a made from solid Cottonwood. This Kachina was made by an expert HOPI maker and is an authentic and c1960 Hopi Wolf Katsina.

Despite this wolf losing most of the rabbit fur on his head he has been one of my favorite Kweos, perhaps because I am bald as well, but he is really well made and has an erie look about him. Truly a fine looking Hopi Kachina, with great workmanship, standing about 11\" tall and 4\" wide at fists. He is made from solid Cottonwood Tree Wood. The WOLF is a POPKOT or Animal Spirit and often at the Kachina Ceremonies so others may secure game and nutrition using his prowess as a hunter. There is some minor wear, primarily fur loss on face and head, but no damage (no cracks or breaks in body). The fur is real rabbit\'s fur. This Kachina, as you can see from the pics, displays extremely well, in good condition, is well made, and a handsome and a collectible piece of Native America.

The body is carved from a single piece of the traditional Cottonwood - a tree that grows in washes and canyons where water is more HERE IS A GREAT EXAMPLE OF A WOLF OR KWEO KACHINA, an AUTHENTIC HOPI HAND CARVED AND PAINTED KACHINA. THIS IS A HUNTER POPKOT KATSINA. HE HAS REAL RABBIT FUR AROUND NECK AND HE HAS HIS RATTLE. HE IS MISSING HIS STICK, WHICH REPRESENTS THE TREES HE HIDES BEHIND WHEN HUNTING. AN OLDER AN UNIQUE WOLF, VERY COLLECTIBLE DUE TO AGE AND QUALITY ( SEE CLOSE UP carved and painted by a master Hopi Kachina carver/maker -attributed to Alfred Fritz per previous owner ( this Kachina has been in my collection for about 15 years and new to ).
