(NOTE: This listing regards the described reliquary crucifix of Saint Anthony Mary Claret - the second-class cloth relic held within is included as a gift. Also, I had neglected to include the dimensions which have now been added) From a Tucson estate some years ago is this obviously old reliquary pendant crucifix relating to Saint Anthony Mary Claret. The beautiful symbolic ornament of faith is of large size and features a circular compartment to the back, the hinged door of which bears a compelling portrait of the saint. Held within is a small piece of St. Anthony Claret\'s cassock / habit and two small medals. An inscription circles the cloth relic - \"DE SOTANA DEL B.A.M. CLARET\", or \"of / from the cassock (or habit) of the blessed A.M. Claret\". I was told the offered crucifix is likely from about the time of his beatification in 1934, though this is not an area of expertise for me and I cannot express such an opinion with personal authority. Perhaps you know. There are no maker marks or indications of the metal. Weight is good for the form at about 27.2 grams on my portable digital scale. Condition is quite fine, with an aura of time to the surfaces and no hidden restorations to dampen your day. There is a very small ancient partial stress line on the right arm of the corpus, seen with a 10X loop and possibly there from the original crafting. There is a small toned toned over cut to the lower back side of the vertical upright of the cross - I am not sure why this is there, but it is a part of its history I am mentioning for accuracy. Otherwise, everything here is good to go. Any typical and expected signs of previous handling are simply more evidence of its service. A look at the pics should give a good idea of appearance and condition - lovely, and instantly ready for devotional use. Size is about 3 1/8 in. vertical including the bale. The pendant crucifix is about 2 27/32 in. vertical with the integral loop loop, and 1 9/16 in. across. For those who know what this is, or who simply wish a single immediate improvement to the devotional ambiance of each day, this will have great meaning for you.
