Biography:

Born in Cleveland, Ohio on Jan. 25, 1935, Don Schweikert established his reputation as an Abstract Artist painter, photographer and sculptist and known for his diversital styles with oil, watercolor and mixed media.

He was raised in the Ohio attended and awarded Scholarships to: Cooper School of Art 1950- 1953. Cleveland Art Institute 1953 – 1954. Art Students League, NY 1954 – 1956. Chicago Art Institute 1957 – 1958. Chaounard Art School, Los Angeles, CA 1958 - 1959.

From 1973 – 1995, Don worked with many animation firms such as Filmation, Warner Bros., Columbia Tri-Star, Disney, Saban And Gaumont Multimedia using his talents as a background artist and supervisor. Some of the projects he worked on were animated cartoons such as Tarzan, Shera, He-man, Fat Albert, Batman Movie and many other animated productions. He loved the desert landscape and spent many weekends enjoying the heat and his garden when he wasn’t painting. While he was painting he listened to a wide variety of music, but Jazz, Soft Rock and Soul were his favorite.

Don was commissioned by Playboy Magazine, Actor, James Arness, Xavier Cougat and Capitol Records. He loved to visit Xavier Cougat to get a glimpse of Cougat’s sexy wife, Charo. Don had an eye for the unusual, exotic and beautiful places, plants, animals and people in this world and used this talent to create amazing paintings, photographs and sculptures.

In 1995, Don contracted a flu-virus while working in Korea and left untreated because he was terrified of doctors and needles which caused congestive heart failure. On March 21, 2005, Don Schweikert died in Northridge, CA of heart failure.
