Ahh. . . . . back in the days before computers and Xerox -
A Draftsman/Designer would use drafting pencils and paper to design everything - in this case, \"The Pirates of the Caribbean\" attraction for Disneyland -the original paper design was printed onto Mylar so as to last a long time for creating prints - these \"Master Mylars\" were kept in files in a vault - eventually they were copied digitally - Mylar allowed light to pass thru onto blueprint paper and created the famous blue-line drawings that were used for decades
This is an EXTREMELY, EXTREMELY RARE Master Mylar from 1966 (36\" x 48\" - Disney standard) used to make blueprints for the Pirates attraction - hard to believe that it is almost 50 yrs old - drawn Feb. 10, 1966 by Stevens & Trout and approved by one of Walt\'s most creative show designers CLAUDE COATS - this Mylar also shows update revisions from 1976 - Drawing D-1, containing Scenes 1-10 and 18 and 19 - this is Bldg #1 - drawn to 1/8\" scale - listed on Title Block as\"Frontierland New Orleans Square Pirate Ride\" - has 2 small pieces of very old masking tape at top and bottom
Even though the Mylar is light and dark, the blueprint would come out due to the light passing thru the Mylar - this 36\"x 48\" original Mylar would best be displayed with a light box behind it -a very RARE collector\'s item!!!
