This sale is for an ORIGINAL World War One US Second Corps Signal Company Corporal\'s Wool M1917 Tunic with Matching Overseas Cap and Puttees. This Tunic Shows NO Soiling, NO Staining and NO Fading. It Maintains PERFECT Color and is Very Solid with NO Damage to Any Stitching. The Bad Part is Some Ambitious Moths Got to it in SIX Places. There are Six Visible Moth Holes to the Material of the Tunic. The Largest of Which is Approximately the Size of a Nickel and Located to the Mid Section of the Right Rear. The Most Visible is the Hole Located Near the Patch / SSI at the Shoulder of the Left Sleeve. There is a Hole to the Exterior Layer of the Wool at the Right Chest Pocket that is Not Overly Apparent and Two Pencil Eraser Sized Holes to the Upper Left Shoulder, all mentioned mothing is visible in the photos. There are also four pencil point sized moth holes to the upper right rear shoulder as well. The moth damage is visible, but NOT so apparent that it ruins the display of this tunic. The tunic remains so solid and in such beautiful condition otherwise, that it still displays quite well and is rather impressive. If it were not for the mothing, the tunic could be considered in Mint Condition! For this Reason, we Rate the Tunic as Being In GOOD to VERY GOOD CONDITION. The Garrison Cap is Part of this Original Set and Remains in VERY NEAR MINT CONDITION and the original Puttees Remain in Good Condition. Overall, this is a Very Nice Second Corps Set to Add to Your Collection!1. WWI US 2nd Corps Signal Corporal\'s Tunic - GOOD to VERY GOOD CONDITION - Wool US Model 1917 Tunic shows only Very Minor Signs of Age, Wear and Use and Maintains Perfect Color with NO Soiling, Staining or Fading. Does show six holes that are discussed above and shown in the photos. The Left Shoulder Maintains Its Original SECOND Corps Embroidered Wool Patch that Remains in GOOD Condition but does show some age, and wear to the white stitched embroidery. The Patch / SSI remains very firmly attached to the tunic by its original thread and maintains good color with NO Mothing, Soiling. Staining or Readily Apparent Fading. The Red Honorable Discharge Chevron and TWO Gold Overseas Service Chevrons Remain in Excellent Condition and are all also firmly attached by their original thread. The Right Sleeve Maintains its Original Applied and Embroidered Wool Signal Corp Corporals Chevrons, also in Excellent Condition and Remaining Firmly Attached by their original thread. The Collar Maintains its \"US\" and Signal Corps Insignia Collar Discs, both in Excellent Condition and Maintaining their original round fasteners to the rear. The tunic maintains all of its original buttons in excellent condition and firmly attached by what appears to be the original thread. The INTERIOR of the Tunic remains in EXCELLENT Condition with virtually NO signs of ever being worn or used in service. There is NO mothing, soiling, staining or wear to the liner and the Collar Maintains it\'s Original \"SIZE 40\" Collar Tag. The rear of the cotton portion of the liner also Maintains it\'s Contract / QMD Tag and can be seen in the photos above. The Tunic is a Larger Than Normal Size and Fits LOOSELY on a Size 38 Mannequin Torso. The MEASUREMENTS ARE: CHEST = 20 1/4 Inches Measured from Armpit to Armpit Across the Front when Buttoned and Laying Flat; BACK = 18 Inches from Shoulder Seam to Shoulder Seam across the Upper Back, Just Below the Collar; SLEEVES = 25 Inches from Top Shoulder Seam to Cuff. 2. WWI US Overseas Cap With Signal Corps Disc - EXCELLENT to MINT CONDITION - Cap shows virtually NO sign of ever being worn at all. No signs of age, wear or use inside or out and it maintains perfect color with NO fading, soiling or staining. The Signal Corps Disc Remains in Excellent Condition and Maintains its Original Round Fastener to the Rear. Cap is approximately a Size 7 to 7 1/4.3. WWI Wool Puttees - FAIR to GOOD CONDITION - No visible damage, but do show signs of age, wear and use. Visible fading the the exterior surface and laces. Appear to have metal clips to the interior of the puttees. They are rolled very tight and appear to have been that way for many, many years. These were in the pockets of the tunic with the cap when we acquired this set and we have chosen not to unroll them. Overall, look to be a nice, good quality matching set. While this tunic is by no means perfect, it does display very well and is a good looking Second Corps Piece.
