Up for offers is this ladies 1920s Belais 18k solid White Gold and Platinum Blue Sapphire Diamond Watch. It\'s in very good, gently used condition. The crystal is loose. The stones show wear to top and facets under magnification. The watch runs, sets and ticks but it has not been timed for accuracy and I do not know how long it will run for. I recommend getting the movement cleaned and oiled. All mechanical watches need this from time to time to ensure accuracy. It is hallmarked Belais 18k Platinum Ornaments as shown and is solid 18k white gold and Platinum. The Swiss 15 jewel movement is signed Ramle Watch Co. The band is a newer stretchy Speidal Stainless Steel Band. Entire watch weighs 17g. Gatsby Era Circa 1920s. The Belais Brothers were famous for being the first in the U.S. to patent a formula for white gold. Before them, all white gold came from Europe. Their items were sold at high end stores like Tiffany\'s and are known to be of high quality. It\'s harder and harder to find these as many are being melted down for their gold content. Let\'s save this one from the smelter!!! An interesting side note, David Belais may be better known for his efforts on behalf of animals as the founder in 1904 of the Humane Society of New York. He served without pay as its President until his death. In 1929, he was also instrumental in establishing the first free animal clinic at the Humane Society headquarters.
