Beautiful SILVER French Art Nouveau medal Suez Canal.
La Compagnie Universelle du Canal Maritime de Suez (1888), seated figure of La France holding torch, being presented with a bag of money by a robed figure, reverse legend commemorating the opening of the Canal in 1869. This medal was struck during the Panama scandal when Ferdinand de Lesseps, builder of the Suez canal, needed 600 million gold Francs from the Epargne Francaise.
