This is a RARE medal by J. J. Barre, who went on to be Engraver General of the Paris Mint from 1842 to his death in 1855. There is precisely one reported sale history sale for an example of this medal. There is one example in the collection of the American Numismatic Society in New York City, and another in the collection of the British Museum. The latter example was studied by author F. Parkes Weber, M. D., F. S. A., who described it in his 1894 book \"Medals and Medallions of the Nineteenth Century, Relating to England, by Foreign Artists\". The description of this medal appears on page 7 of that book, as number 8 under the heading of J. J.
